Judge's Comments: Effective design. If you are an artist who is struggling with design and composition issues, my advice is: study this painting! The design is clean and very well-balanced. I love the atmospheric perspective; it is used effectively everywhere in the painting, even between the boats. Nice use of warm and cool colors. I enjoy how the artist harmonized the sky color and temperature with that of the water.
