Small Adjustments
by Trent Gudmundsen
Oil 16 x 24

Entered in: December 2009

Judge's Comments: The brushwork and colors in this painting are beautifully and delicately executed. The composition of the three ballerinas facing different directions yet still connected is most effective and forms a creative irregular single shape. All the elements in the studio space (windows, walls, radiator, prints and ballet bars) are subtly painted with minimal information so as not to detract from the ballerinas. Their skin tones and costumes seem to glisten in the light and glow in the shadows. Ballet movements are all about small adjustments to create the perfect form and the ballerinas have been formed with delicate edge and brushwork by this very skilled artist. Stunning! c.d. - Cathy Dietrich
