Judge's Comments: The illusion of transparency, painted opaquely. It has been patiently explained to me - when I have tried to paint water - that one does not paint the ‘water’ per se, but, rather reflected light, and what’s underneath. This discussion invariably ends badly, and I end up painting the truck we drove over in. This painting pretty much assures that I will continue to not paint water, but, rather, will hire David Griffin when I need to do so. Stunning. - Charlie Hunter
